We are a grassroots collective in California’s Central Coast built by and for filmmakers. We celebrate the intrinsic link between storytelling and culture, and make clear the inherent value of producing excellent film work for a thriving local community & economy.

Our mission is to act as an independent film commission in making the “805” (Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo County) a desirable film location. Through in-person and online resources, we nurture a vibrant local community, celebrate cinematic culture, enhance our storytelling craft, and create abundant economic opportunities for expert filmmakers and the greater filmmaking community across California’s Central Coast.

The “805” is a geographic place that, because of its varied and recognizable natural beauty, embodies its own unique laid back, discreet, outdoor-oriented personality, and attracts residents and visitors who integrate with that lifestyle ethos.

Between the ocean and the mountains, the valleys and the islands, the history of rancheros, missions, agriculture, and of course, the ongoing significance of the original Chumash people, here lives the essence of an original California – the one we think of when we get that dreamy, nostalgic picture in our minds…

It is no accident that so many celebrities and highly successful people cast themselves away from Hollywood and Silicon Valley, and instead choose the Central Coast as a haven that absorbs them, protects them, and provides for them.

We are lucky to embrace such a dreamworld that invigorates the outer reaches of our imagination to stretch even farther to tell stories, feel feelings, and create experiences that reflect our core values.
